Avid EDL Manager is a companion utility for post-production workflows that need reliable Edit Decision List (EDL) interchange. It lets you import, inspect, tidy, and export industry-standard EDLs so offline cuts can be accurately conformed in online, color, or VFX environments that rely on timecode- and reel-based workflows.

Key capabilities:

• Read and write common EDL formats (such as CMX 3600 and related variants)
• Generate EDLs from sequences with options to split by video track or source reel
• Normalize reel names, reconcile timecode, and apply offsets to match reference media
• Map tracks, manage transitions, and flag effects that require manual handling
• Validate lists for missing sources, overlaps, or formatting errors before delivery
• Merge or break apart lists to suit online conform or tape layoff needs
• Add comments and annotations for clear communication with finishing teams

Notes:

• Because EDLs are limited in how they represent complex effects and multi-layer edits, modern interchange formats (like AAF or XML) may be preferable when supported. EDL Manager remains valuable when a clean, standards-compliant EDL is required.
